Myler Bits Western Dee With Hooks MB02 The Myler Western Dee with Hooks MB02 is 3" circular ring with a fixed attachment of the mouthpiece and top and bottom rings ("hooks") for headstall and rein attachment. There is direct rein action when the rein hook is not used. When the rein is fixed on the rein hook it is indirect action. It is used primarily in Western riding disciplines.
The addition of the hooks to the cheek make this a more versatile bit. When the headstall is attached to the top hook, it holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheeks. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement of the mouthpiece (if available). Using the hooks does not add leverage. This cheekpiece does not offer the ability to attach a curb chain or strap.
Myler Bit Level 1
Size - 5"
Stainless Steel Western Dee with 2 Hooks with Sweet Iron Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel (MB 02, Level 1) Copper Inlay Mouth.
This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts. Harmless to horses, it has a sweet taste and promotes salivation.
The MB 02 mouthpiece is the Myler alternative to the traditional three-piece mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits.
When the reins are engaged the MB02 will rotate fully on to the tongue in order to apply the necessary tongue pressure to teach a horse to give to the bit or break at the poll.
The bars of the bit are curved so the bit wraps the bars and lips of the mouth instead of pinching them when it rotates on to the tongue.
The curve makes more room for the tongue under the bit.
The barrel distributes the pressure kindly on the tongue.
The Myler Level One horse could:
Be young and inexperienced
Just be beginning training
Be riding in a discipline that restricts bits to snaffle with jointed mouthpiece
