Description Technical Specs

Barefoot Physio Ride-On Bareback Pad

The Barefoot Physio Ride-On Bareback Pads incorporate a special section underneath for optional foam inserts. This section is attached with Velcro and the pad is provided with 2 different sets of inserts. One is rubber foam and the other is soft PU foam. This pad offers great Physio properties and a saddle-less ride that won't harm your horse. Inserting the shims give additional protection to your horse's back and ensures clearance from the spine. Specifically recommended for very slender riders and heavy riders. Also for horses that have visible spinal processes and badly muscled backs. Suitable also for older horses.

Most bareback pads or riding cushions can be bad for a horse, causing discomfort. Usually caused by their girths running directly across the back, which distributes all pressure into one or possibly two spinous processes. This Barefoot Physio Ride-On Pad has V-girthing with fleeced-lined Billet Patches which works to distribute pressure along the entire pad. Also, there are no stirrup attachments, as pressure points would occur when standing in stirrups.

The Ride-On pad's high density foam padding in alternate thicknesses is extremely stable on your horse's back. The properties of the Sympanova material on the pad's underside makes the pad non-slip, while the upper side is made of microfiber. The upper ensures good grip for riders, even at speed. The horse-friendly girthing has patches with 100% sheep fleece on the underside. This stabilizes the girthing, and doesn't irritate your horse's coat along the side. The pad can be used in combination with the Barefoot Sheepskin Girth or any style dressage girth. The dressage girth is not included so you can choose the correct size for your horse.

The design of the pad incorporates a sturdy nylon grab handle, and D-rings for attaching bags

5 of 5 Great bareback pad! August 30, 2019

I was pleasantly surprised with this pad!  It arrived in a timely manner, and all I had to do was place the inserts in the panels and I was ready to ride.  What surprised me the most is the fact that my horse has full spine relief even with my weight.  This pad works a bit like a treeless saddle, and even with the swingy movement of my Walking Horse, and his shark fin wither, the saddle was not digging into him at the front and back of the saddle.  He is comfortable and can stretching out and move properly, and I feel secure enough to take this out on the trails.  The only part that is tough is riding without stirrups ;)

Love it, I stay stuck to the pad and it allows me to ride more because its so light and fast to put on, I can carry everything in one hand and its on my horse in less than a minute. Should have purchased it sooner.

I'm highly impressed with the pad's comfort, smart design, and spinal clearance.

The Physio Ride-On is a marvelous "seat" that's elegantly made to benefit both horse and rider.

I got this pad for a 24yo Paso Fino I adopted recently who is lacking in muscle tone along his top line. He acts like he's 14 and likes rides but we were having trouble finding a saddle to fit. This pad seems very comfortable for him and me. Customer service was excellent as well! Thank you so much for the great communication and product!

5 of 5 Great Bareback Pad! May 27, 2016
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from OXFORD, MI United States
I love, love, love this pad! It's really comfortable for the rider and has great grip.
My Gelding started to lose some topline over the winter and when I look at his back it looks like putting any saddle on it would make it worse.
I want to get him a good treeless saddle but don't have the money for it right now so I looked into this bareback pad as a cheeper temporary fix.
I don't regret it. He is moving better it in and even dropped his head and neck while trotting! Which is something he never does. He feels like his back is free and nothing is pinching his withers.  With all the padding this pad has I feel good about riding him in it on a regular basis.
The only negative thing I have to say about this pad is that the wool on the sides, slide off the billets  by them selves while it's being carried. I just keep the girth attached over the top of the pad and it's fine.
